Ground Stations
ActiveKSC is developing satellite tracking ground station infrastructure at UCF, with two stations currently in progress.
The Engineering Ground Station, located on the roof of the ENG1 building, is a collaboration with ARC@UCF. KSC is developing a custom Raspberry Pi Pico-based computer interface to restore satellite tracking functionality to ARC's Yaesu G-5500 rotator controller. This open-source interface includes firmware, a PCB, and enclosure — chosen to build experience with the Pico and train members on PCB design.
The Physics Ground Station, located on the roof of the Physical Sciences Building (PSB), is a collaboration with the UCF Department of Physics to help operate a recently installed satellite ground station.
